| Basal squamules persistent, conspicuous, 1–5 mm long, 1–2 mm diam., rounded, lobed, esorediate, with slightly crenate margins. Podetia growing from basal squamules, 0.5–2 cm tall, simple; cortex areolate, becoming subwarted, rarely minutely squamulose at base; scyphi 2–6 mm diam., lacking marginal or central proliferations, ecorticate, floury-sorediate, with closed, ecorticate, floury-sorediate interior and entire or minutely denticulate margins. Apothecia marginal on scyphi, convex, brown; not seen in Australian specimens. CHEMISTRY: K- or K+ weak yellow, KC-, P+ red. Fumarprotocetraric (major) and protocetraric (trace) acids with atranorin (major). | ||
| Occurs in W.A., S.A., Qld, N.S.W., A.C.T., Vic. and Tas.; also in western Europe, North and South America and eastern Asia; grows on soil. | ||
